Hotel Review: Drury Plaza Hotel, Disney Springs

Writer: JaneJane

Here is the view from our family room in the Drury Plaza Hotel, Disney Springs.

I have debated whether to share this gem of a hotel, because I don’t want to increase competition for our future visits! Ultimately, I have decided that our positive review is a good way to thank the staff at this amazing hotel for everything we enjoyed during our stay.

We had the privilege of being among the first guests, because the hotel only opened in December 2022. This meant that everything about the hotel was clean and fresh. Every staff member seemed happy and excited. There was a positive vibe about the place that made us feel welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived.

Beyond the usual things which make a hotel good – service, cleanliness and price, the Drury Plaza Hotel in Disney Springs had some extra factors which made it perfect for our stay:

  1. Daily breakfast: A huge buffet including hot breakfast options, cereals, pastries, fruit and more, plus hot and cold drinks, served in a massive dining room.

  2. Daily popcorn and soft drinks for the kids from 4 pm daily: All free!

  3. Daily 5:30 pm ‘Kickback’: We expected this to include some quick snacks that we’d grab for the kids if we were around at the right time. We were expecting hotdogs and hot chips/fries, nothing special. Instead, we were blown away by the rotating menu, which always included a protein option such as chicken breast or chicken pasta, plus salads, soups, hot vegetables, a nacho station, a hotdog station, bread rolls and unlimited drinks. This became our dinner most nights. It was so nice to eat a relatively healthy meal while on holidays.

  4. A free coffee machine available in the foyer 24/7.

  5. A convenience store on the ground floor which included a small Pizza Hut and sold Starbucks products.

  6. An on-site bar and restaurant.

  7. Plentiful, cheap washing and drying laundry machines.

  8. A free shuttle bus service running to and from all the Disney parks.

  9. Walking distance (10 mins or so) to Disney Springs.

  10. Theme park views: We watched fireworks from all over Orlando from our window and saw the EPCOT ball changing colours after our kids were asleep in bed. It was magical!

We have raved about this hotel so much that two sets of family friends are staying there this coming December/January on our recommendation.

During our entire trip, which was just over a month long, I had one teary moment, and that was leaving this hotel to make our way to the next destination. We still had some amazing places to visit, so our trip wasn’t over, but we became so familiar with the staff at the Drury during our 12-night stay that it was like saying goodbye to friends. Our kids became comfortable and familiar with getting around the hotel and they loved the little bit of independence. We knew we wouldn’t find quite the same level of service anywhere else.

Having stayed on-site at Walt Disney World before, we were a bit worried about staying off-site this time, but we have nothing but positive things to say about accessing WDW from this hotel. As a ‘Good Neighbor’ hotel, guests still get the early theme park entry. Our reservation was linked in the My Disney Experience app. The Drury buses ran directly to the car parks of EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and to the Transportation and Ticketing Center at Magic Kingdom. We enjoyed the monorail or boat rides from there. We often walked up to Disney Springs and caught direct Disney transportation, so it wasn’t too different from staying at an on-site resort most of the time.

Thank you, Drury Plaza Hotel Disney Springs, for a most amazing stay!
