Canberra With Kids: Cockington Green Gardens

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

While in Canberra, we had the pleasure of visiting Cockington Green Gardens. It was a delightful experience for all of us. As soon as we arrived, we were handed search cards at the reception desk, and we headed off, excited to start hunting for the various characters around the gardens.

The gardens themselves are something special, with intricate miniature replicas of famous buildings and landmarks from around the world. It was amazing to see the attention to detail that had been put into each model, and we were enthralled by them. Some of the displays have interactive elements which make them even more enjoyable.

One of the highlights of our visit was a little train ride around the gardens. Our girls were on the top end of the suitable age for this - so much so that we adults just watched them ride, because there really wasn't space for us. If you have young children, the train would be an ideal way to see all of the different models without having to walk around the entire park. The train ride also offers views of the gardens from a different perspective.

We arrived on opening and finished up mid-morning, which was the perfect time to indulge in a high tea, which was served indoors in a lovely setting. The food was delicious, and it was the perfect way to end our visit.

Overall, our visit to Cockington Green Gardens was wonderful - an engaging, relaxing morning in a quaint setting. The gardens themselves were absolute works of art, and the search cards added an extra element of fun. The train ride and high tea were both great additions, and we would highly recommend them.

For those interested in visiting, the entry price is $21 for adults, $11 for children (4-16 years old) and free for children under 4 years old. The gardens are open from 9:30am to 5:00pm every day except Christmas Day. Bookings can be made on their website at cockingtongreen.com.au.
